Tar Heels improve to 3-0 in another rout of Coastal Carolina

UNC continued to dominate its easy early schedule in women’s basketball Friday night, as Italee Lucas led three Tar Heels in double figures in a 93-37 romp over visiting Coastal Carolina.

Chay Shegog added 14 points for the No. 14Tar Heels (3-0), who led 34-2 at one point on their way to a 45-10 halftime lead.

Jessica Breland, in her third game back after sitting out all of last season with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, had a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds for the Tar Heels.

Olivia Irick scored nine points to lead Coastal (2-1), which has lost all 14 meetings with UNC.

The Tar Heels host Western Carolina on Sunday at Carmichael Arena.
