Renfree solid but defense dominates Duke scrimmage

Redshirt Sean Renfree completed 12 of 17 passes for 153 yards but was unable to get a touchdown in Duke’s 70-play scrimmage at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Josh Trezvant caught three passes for 32 yards while Renfree hit Cooper Helfet for a 48-yard gain and Conner Vernon on a 38-yarder.

Juwan Thompson was the leading rusher with seven carries for 23 yards.

Damian Thornton posted three tackles for loss including a sack while Walt Canty had an interception and a tackle-for-loss.

Will Snyderwine kicked a 23-yard field goal, while the defense scored a safety when linebacker August Campbell caught quarterback Sean Schroeder in the end zone.
