The win evened their three-game series at one win apiece, improved the Mudcats to .500 in the second half and left them two games behind first-place Chattanooga in the Southern League’s North Division.

Tom Cochran (6-3) was the winning pitcher, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing two runs on six hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Tim Sexton (3-8) took the loss.

Dave Sappelt added a double and a single for two RBI for Carolina.

Eduardo Perez homered for Chattanooga.
