Hellickson wins league-best ninth as Bulls earn split with Louisville

Jeremy Hellickson went seven solid innings, picking up his International League-leading ninth win of the season as the Durham Bulls beat the host Louisville Bats 5-1.

Omar Luna went 4-for-4 including a pair of doubles with an RBI to lead the Bulls’ offense as they gained a split of the four-game series.

Hellickson (9-2) allowed the run on five hits, striking out six against one walk in seven innings.

Travis Wood (4-6) took the loss.

Justin Ruggiano doubled and singled with two RBI for the Bulls.

Zack Cozart’s RBI double in the sixth was the biggest of Louisville’s seven hits.

Monday’s game
Bulls at Indianapolis, 7 p.m.

Carlos Hernandez (L, 6-3, 3.36) vs. Daniel McCutchen (R, 4-4, 4.02)
