Joanna Miller had her first career double-double and three teammates scored in double figures, but N.C. Central lost an 81-75 overtime heartbreaker to future MEAC foe South Carolina State.

Sophilia Hipps led the Bulldogs (3-3) with 28 points, going 5-for-8 from 3-point range and 9-for-10 from the free-throw line.

Joi Walker added 14 points and Paris Alston 10 for the Bulldogs, who split a pair of home-court victories with the Eagles last season.

Freshman guard Miller (pictured) had 21 points and a season-high 10 rebounds for NCCU (0-6). Latoya Bennett chipped in 18 points for the Eagles, while Danielle DeBerry added 13 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and Shanise Blanks chipped in 13 points as well.

The Eagles, who visit Virginia Tech on Sunday at 1, will have three more road games after that before hosting SCSU on Dec. 30.
