Duke defensive coordinator MacIntyre wins national honor

Duke's defensive coordinator Mike MacIntyre has been named the National Assistant Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association.

Duke is 41st nationally and sixth in the ACC in total defense, allowing 342.8 yards per game.

MacIntyre (pictured) joined head coach David Cutcliffe at Duke before the 2008 season.

He came to the Blue Devils after five seasons in the NFL, four with the Dallas Cowboys (2003-06) and the next with the New York Jets.

MacIntyre was on Cutcliffe's staff at Mississippi from 1999-02, helping the Rebels to a 29-19 record with three bowl appearances.

Lewis a Unitas finalist

Duke's Thaddeus Lewis is one of five finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, presented annually to the nation's top senior quarterback.

Other finalists are Dan LeFevour (Central Michigan), Colt McCoy (Texas), Zac Robinson (Oklahoma State) and Tim Tebow (Florida).

Lewis has completed 226 of 364 passes for 2,640 yards and 16 touchdowns this season and has rushed for three more scores.
