Ahead of Hurricane Florence, GoTriangle, GoRaleigh, GoCary and GoDurham are altering bus schedules for Thursday and Friday.

According to a press release,  GoRaleigh and GoCary will run regular bus service Thursday until 5 p.m.  GoTriangle and GoDurham will run Sunday-level service until 5 p.m., meaning no express routes. Routes that start after 5 p.m. will not run for any system on Thursday.

On Friday, all four agencies are suspending bus service "until further notice."

"Once it’s safe to resume service, transit agencies will post information on their websites and social media channels and email customers who have signed up for alerts," the statement says. You can sign up for GoTriangle alerts here. You should also sign up for alerts from your county government.

If sustained winds reach dangerous levels before 5 p.m. Thursday, agencies may suspend service earlier.

Chapel Hill Transit is suspending all all service Thursday and Friday. The agency will provide a shuttle service from downtown Chapel Hill to an emergency shelter at Smith Middle School from 6 to 10 tonight.

The Town of Chapel Hill says motorists who need to move their cars away from possible flooding can use
the Park and Ride lots on Eubanks Road and at Southern Village.

The city of Raleigh will open four parking decks for free parking during the hurricane beginning Thursday at noon:
Parking will also be free in surface lots, decks and on-street in Durham Friday.

Check real time traffic conditions across the state, including weather-related road closures, on the DOT website.

Until 8 p.m. tonight, ride-share service Lyft is offering free rides (up to $15) to North Carolina emergency shelters. Dial 211 to get a promo code.
