Breaking news this morning in Chapel Hill:

University officials gave the all-clear before 10 a.m. this morning after temporarily suspending campus activities following a report of an armed individual on campus.

UNC sent out an alert around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning citing an unconfirmed report of an armed person near the campus ROTC building and Venable Hall.

Police cordoned off a section of South Columbia Street and waited, guns drawn, outside of the ROTC building, but left after a tense few minutes on campus.

As of now, there has been no additional word from campus and Chapel Hill police. We will update as soon as we know more, but by 10 a.m., the campus had resumed normal activity.
