Posted by on Sun, Mar 1, 2009 at 8:39 PM

Indy contributing writer Mark Maximov squeaked into the top 10 percent of finishers at the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, placing 64th in a field of 684.

When compared to other players in his skill level—Division B—he placed 35th. And when competing against players in the Southern Division, Maximov finished an impressive third.

During the three-day tournament, held in New York, players had to complete seven puzzles. The four top finishers logged a total of 11,930 points; Maximov scored 10,715.

Maximov writes about film for the Indy.
