NC is featured prominent on the best electoral number-crunching Web site, fivethirtyeight.com, with a report on the state's surging Democratic registrations. According to the State Board of Elections, there are 2.7 million registered Dems in NC, compared to 1.9 million Republicans. Unaffiliated/other comes in at 1.3 million.
