NC biz gets big bucks to turn food into fuel

Posted by on Mon, Sep 15, 2008 at 7:48 AM

Apparently word hasn't hit Hoke County that turning corn into fuel is fraught with economic, environmental and social justice problems. The ethanol frenzy has resulted in higher food prices, and refining the produce emits high levels of fossil fuels. And at least 850 million people worldwide are chronically hungry--but our gas gauges read full.
