With shared connections to Mississippi, the duo of Jake Xerxes Fussell and William Tyler played a rare show together courtesy of Duke Performances' Music in the Gardens series. Both played short solo sets in the Southern July humidity before convening for a few sweet tunes.

The relaxed atmosphere of Duke Gardens paired with the ambient sound of summertime bugs in the vast grounds surrounding the stage made for a wonderful setting for the easygoing pair. The guitarists concluded the evening with a couple of cover songs that featured Fussell on lead vocals and Tyler flexing his considerable prowess on lead guitar.

Below are clips from the evening's performance.

Jake Xerxes Fussell & William Tyler, "Highway Anxiety"

Jake Xerxes Fussell & William Tyler, "I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass"

Jake Xerxes Fussell & William Tyler, "Fishin' In The Dark"

Jake Xerxes Fussell & William Tyler, "Star Girl"
