The International Bluegrass Music Association's World of Bluegrass convention has been a boon to Raleigh, and it returns to the city for the final week of September this year. In addition to its business conference, IBMA brings its Wide Open Bluegrass festival downtown, and the institution announced the headliners for this year's big shows at Red Hat Amphitheater on Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1.

On Friday, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band headlines as it continues to celebrate its fiftieth anniversary, with Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives and The Earls of Liecester, the Flatt & Scruggs tribute ensemble that cleaned up at last year's IBMA awards. The Peter Rowan Band begins the day, with Dailey & Vincent and Laurie Lewis & the Right Hands taking middle slots. The Soggy Bottom Boys—yes, of O Brother, Where Art Thou? fame—appear, too. That group features Dan Tyminski, Barry Bales, and Stuart Duncan, among others.

Saturday night features the return of Del McCoury and Steep Canyon Rangers to Red Hat, plus the Kruger Brothers, the Becky Buller Band, Greensky Bluegrass, and Larry Sparks & The Lonesome Ramblers. Sparks was inducted into the IBMA Hall of Fame last year.

Tickets to these shows are on sale now, and you can view the full line-ups here.
