Des Ark's Aimée Argote is a DIY lifer, and now she's got a video showing you how to be one, too. It's a demonstration tape for playing her song "Ties" for yourself.

The eleven-minute explainer arrives via She Shreds, a magazine promoting female guitarists and bassists, and is the second installment in the magazine's web series The Way (you can watch the first episode with Holly Miranda here). The video was shot a few weeks ago at South by Southwest, where Des Ark played several sets, including a She Shreds showcase.

"Ties" comes from last fall's Everything Dies, and is one of the record's heavier songs. Argote breaks the tune down into three distinct pieces and explains how players can use open tuning to shape the song as they like. The post also includes guitar tabs to augment Argote's instruction.

You can watch the whole video below.
