Listen to a new Mount Moriah song, "Calvander," from a forthcoming 7-inch

Last month, Mount Moriah announced their first new release since their stunning 2013 Merge debut, Miracle Temple. The upcoming three-song seven-inch isn't quite the full follow-up most folks might have hoped for, but we're told an announcement for that is imminent. And today's debut of the single "Calvander" proves the band is as strong as ever.

The song might first feel like typical Mount Moriah fare, with sharp guitar licks supported by a big groove, as Heather McEntire's tremendous voice leading the charge. For the first time, though, horns float into the mix, adding another wonderful layer to the already rich offering. The track sits alongside a demo version of the previously unreleased "Baby Blue" on the A-side, while the B-side is a live recording of "Plane" from the band's 2013 set in Fletcher Opera Theater during the Hopscotch Music Festival.

Mount Moriah has already announced via social media that more than half of the tickets for the October 9 release show at The Pinhook are gone, so if you're keen on going, you should consider copping a ticket here. In the meantime, you can stream "Calvander" below and pre-order the 7-inch before it drops October 9.
