Yung Skeeter

When: Sat., Feb. 16, 10 p.m. 2013

Raleigh's monthly dance party, Discovery, has done a load of work to expose locals to electronic music's underground upstarts. But its second-anniversary guest, Los Angeles DJ and producer Yung Skeeter (formerly known as DJ Skeet Skeet), might arouse some snobbery among the series' disciples, what with his musical ties to Katy Perry and Chris Brown. Even if his marquee reputation turns you off, that should be tuned out by some of his more recent creations. "Stand Again," his first release on the Steve Aoki-helmed Dim Mak Records, constrains his rave-mix affectations to curvier rhythms, finessed by Gaby Duran's foxy vocal appeals. You'll adapt. The party starts at 10 p.m.; visit for admission price. —Eric Tullis
