Your Turn

your turn Rescue Health Care Day Rally, Saturday, April 1: The idea of corporate health care providers making decisions about your well-being based on how expensive treatment will be is quite frightening. While there are different opinions on managed care, many people are very uncomfortable with the "for-profit" approach to health care. The N.C. Coalition of Mental Health Professionals and Consumers is organizing the local portion of a national rally to issue a "no confidence vote" on corporate managed care to our state legislators. The group hopes to open a fresh dialogue about health care with members of our General Assembly with a bipartisan rally at the flagpole in front of the Legislative Building Saturday, between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The rally's goals are to force acknowledgment that the current health care system is not working and to encourage exploration of alternatives. Speakers representing both consumers and health care professionals will share their perspectives. Call 846-7396 for more information.
