Young Prisms

When: Mon., Nov. 12, 7 p.m. 2012
Price: $8

In March, Kanine Records—former home to Grizzly Bear, Chairlift and Surfer Blood—released In Between, the second LP from San Francisco coed quintet Young Prisms. But In Between sounds a lot like Slumberland, the legendary indie rock label that has found success with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Frankie Rose in recent years. Sweet pop melodies drift and jangle above encrusted washes of distortion, gentle harmonies pushing beneath the lead like echoes of ghosts. It's lovely if distant stuff, built with songs and sonics that suggest memories of tunes you used to sing. —Grayson Currin
