Yoderfest with Supatight, Beside the Fire, Nectar Unit, Pseudo Blue

When: Sun., Nov. 11, 2 p.m. 2012
Price: Free

Now in its second year, Raleigh's Yoderfest aims to preserve the memory of local music lover Chris Yoder, who died of heat stroke at Bonnaroo 2011. At least seven acts will convene at two Raleigh venues. Bonnaroo alums Big Gigantic headline at the Lincoln with their jam-enlightened take on trip-hop, which is incredibly happy and danceable. Crizzly, on the same bill, adds a more aggressive dupstep-style chop-and-wobble to his remixes. Raleigh's DJ Rou-dee also performs. Earlier in the day, Durham's Supatight headlines an afternoon bill at Deep South with sax-accented funk. Asheville's Beside the Fire plays Grateful Dead-descended good-times folk-rock, and Kernersville's Nectar Unit joins the lineup. A portion of the proceeds go to the Fender Music Foundation, a nonprofit arm of the major guitar company that puts instruments in the hands of American music educators. The jams at Deep South start at 2 p.m. and are free; the 8 p.m. Lincoln Theatre show is $17 in advance, $20 at the door. —Corbie Hill
