Wyatt Easterling, The Gallery, Disappearing Cowboy

When: Thu., July 18, 9 p.m. 2013

Chapel Hill native Wyatt Easterling moved to Nashville, but he'd fit in as easily in Boston given his folky mien and laid-back, breathy croon. On his 2009 debut, Where This River Goes, the tempos are slower than road construction, leading the songs to bleed together. It doesn't help that the simple grace of the arrangements feels a touch too pristine. Still, the writing is strong and offers reason to believe Easterling's performances might be more engaging and immediate. With The Gallery and Disappearing Cowboy. —Chris Parker
