World/Inferno Friendship Society, Mischief Brew, Bats & Mice

When: Mon., Feb. 13, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $12-14

If you haven't yet acquainted yourself with the 8-to-30-piece "punk cabaret" outfit known as The World/Inferno Friendship Society, close your eyes: Imagine a collection of stylishly outfitted musicians, led by strident yet charismatic frontman Jack Terricloth, running through a cornucopia of musical styles, from klezmer to jazz standards to chamber music, with the verve of a spit-in-your-face punk outfit and the panache of a professional orchestra. Get the crazy picture? Good. Their albums are a fine testament to their wanton eclecticism and idiosyncratic interests, but on stage, World/Inferno turns even the most hardened skeptics into true believers. —David Raposa
