Woodsman, Lonnie Walker, Old Bricks

When: Sun., March 4, 9:30 p.m. 2012
Price: $6-8

Last January, Denver quartet Woodsman released Rare Forms. By October, they reappeared with the decidedly darker Mystic Places EP. But sonic shape-shifting seems natural for the group, whose art evokes a shaman's incantations. Woodsman relies on the swirling improvisation of the group's two guitarists, two drummers and electronic loops to create a collage of sound. With film school backgrounds, Woodsman's members know how to build atmosphere."View From the Vision Hand" is a compelling storm of slight jangle and brooding drone. Raleigh's Lonnie Walker and Old Bricks open. —Ashleigh Phillips
