WKNC Double Barrel Benefit: Eternal Summers, Elvis Depressedly, Museum Mouth, Body Games

When: Sat., Feb. 14, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $12-$15
For the second year in a row, WKNC 88.1FM takes one night of its annual Double Barrel Benefit to Carrboro. Top-tier locals have generally driven the shows, but for this edition, they’ve stretched to a regional focus. The results are interesting. In the last five years, Virginia’s Eternal Summers have made the dreams of their dream pop, well, dreamier, with bigger textures and more heavenly hooks. From Columbia, South Carolina, the wickedly named Elvis Depressedly makes mutated, lonesome pop, where pitch-shifted vocals and wobbly instrumentation somehow bend into uncanny and beautiful tunes. In the front slot, Museum Mouth gets ecstatic and aggressive, while Body Games deliver sophisticated pop with neon melodies and big bass. —Grayson Haver Currin
