Winter Sounds, Moonlight Bride, Fan Modine

When: Wed., Feb. 15, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $7

This three-band bill mixes bright music and depressing lyrics, best described as haunted pop. Nashville's The Winter Sounds headline, playing songs such as "Devils," which suggests Gang of Four grabbing a violin. Chattanooga's Moonlight Bride fits the bill with melodies washed beneath chilling reverb. Carrboro's Fan Modine takes an approach similar to that of The Winter Sounds, with happier music that almost masks the daunting verses. —James Hatfield
