William Shakespeare's Land of the Dead

When: Oct. 10-12, 8 p.m. and Oct. 12-13, 2 p.m. 2013
What is it with our collective obsession with zombies? Sure, Shaun of the Dead was pretty funny, but now they're launching a new Archie Comics series called Afterlife with Archie. Enough is enough. Clearly hiSTORY Stage doesn't agree: The performance company devoted to presenting historical plays gives Shakespeare a zombie twist in William Shakespeare's Land of the Dead. Here, there's a zombie plague in London just as Henry V opens at the Globe Playhouse. I guess you'll like this one if you're into Bard jokes and the moans of the walking dead. The show plays in Durham Oct. 10–13, then runs at Burning Coal Theatre in Raleigh October 24–27. —Emma D. Miller
