Whitey Morgan & the 78's, Jonathan Parker & the Bel-Airs

When: Thu., March 21, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $8

The Mason-Dixon Line might be the most porous of our national borders, which is precisely how outlaw country redneck Whitey Morgan wound up in Flint, Mich. Picking up the habit from his car-making father, Morgan flies the rebel country colors of Jennings, Haggard and Cash. The Waylon connection emerges in his languid baritone, though Morgan also enjoys traditional honky-tonk and George Jones-style weepers. Indeed, that slow tempo and heartbroken flavor predominate his self-titled second album, highlighted by "Memories Cost a Lot," in which he notes that "there's more to writing songs than rhyming lines." —Chris Parker
