Action/Adventure, Drama

More like White House Die Hard, although director Roland Emmerich also apes Wolfgang Petersen, Michael Bay and Season 7 of 24, not to mention a not-so-casual mention of Emmerich's own Independence Day. In this, the fourth film in which the German-born director has wrecked the White House, federal cop John Cale (Channing Tatum) and his daughter get caught mid-tour in an armed takeover of the White House. The byplay between Tatum and Jamie Foxx, as the president, carries the film, which works best when it's not taking itself too seriously—a car chase involving the presidential limo around the White House lawn is the goofy highpoint. For what it's worth, recent visitors to the White House can attest to this film's meticulous set design.
