White Cascade, Alpha Cop, Museum Mouth

When: Thu., July 5, 10 p.m. 2012
Price: Free
Only half of White Cascade's name fits the band's sound. There's nothing white about the Raleigh group's darkly fuzzed-out fusion of shoegaze and pop, but it is unquestionably a cascade. Propulsive bass lines build into tenacious grooves as distortion mounts in songs that often hit seven or eight minutes. Attractive hooks are buried within the noise, the sound of Sirens begging you to give in. The tones are a touch monochromatic, but White Cascade compensates with energy and resolve, willing their songs to succeed where others would fail. Frayed, emotional pop-rock outfit Museum Mouth opens alongside Alpha Cop. The 10 p.m. Local Band Local Beer show is free. Visit tnnirishpub.com. —Jordan Lawrence
