More like Friday Night Lite. This football film tells the before-and-after of Da La Salle High School's real-life, record-setting 151-game winning streak. Events include an off-season health scare suffered by legendary head coach Bob Ladouceur (Jim Caviezel) and the murder of former teammate Terrence Kelly. But ultimately, this is the story of a football program that doesn't lose a game for 12 years suddenly coping with what other teams face all the time. Director Thomas Carter interjects some requisite genre tropes: the overbearing dad, the egocentric star player and a pivotal game against an African-American powerhouse. But an otherwise pedestrian tale of uplift crosses an uncomfortable line when a trip to a VA hospital is used as the springboard for the team to start winning again.
