We all know about reinventing the wheel. But before the wheel was reinvented, it had to be invented. Who did that? We're not sure who owns the patent, but it's several thousand years old, dating back to the late Neolithic. At this annual weeklong celebration of the marvelous centrifugal work-saver, you can do time trials on miniature racetracks, explore the legacy of super slot cars and create tire-tread art, all in the course of learning about the functions of various patterns. Also participating are Alix Bowman and Organic Transit, the creators of those solar-assisted, covered velomobiles that Durhamites have been seeing around town lately. —David Fellerath
