Waxahatchee, The Goodbye Party (Back Room)

When: Sat., April 11, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $13-$15
Ivy Tripp, the new album from New York-via-Philly-via-Alabama’s Waxahatchee, will be the first of theirs released by area indie-rock institution Merge Records. That association elicits intrigue, but the next notes from singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield would have been highly anticipated even if Merge had passed. 2013’s Cerulean Salt drew acclaim for adding more oomph to the intimate, doubt-riddled alt-folk she’d presented on debut American Weekend. The newer stuff is bigger still, with Crutchfield’s resolute voice pushing through the low-hanging fuzz of three guitarists with many pedals. —Jeff Klingman
