Re: “The illness: Holes in the Latino safety net

Sarah, why do you double post? Bob, please let me know the next time you're headed this way so I can make arrangements to be away on vacation. I've already spent far too much time reading the BS from the two of you (BTW, are you a tag-team?). Get a life, y'all. BYE!

Re: “The illness: Holes in the Latino safety net

First, sorry to be jumping into the discussion so late but after reading some of the posts on this article, I decided to do a little research on my own. I've been "lurking" at ALIPAC for a few days, reading current articles as well as archives. I wanted to see for myself what was going on over there. I was pleasantly surprised to see posts by members who are from all ethnicities. I did notice that at least one member stated that s/he is an American Indian, one member has a screen name of redwhiteandbluelatino, another with an obviously Hispanic name is a member of the Minutemen, some say they are black. There are members there whose ancestries go back hundreds of years in the US, naturalized citizens, and resident aliens in the process of becoming citizens. There were several trolls who were shown the door as well. There are thousands upon thousands of archives and I didn't have time to read each and every thing there. It looks like a very diverse group to me. That being said, I fail to why some here claim they are racists. They seem to be talking about undocumented immigrants, all undocumented immigrants. There was one article dealing with Irish undocumented immigrants that stands out in my mind. Even comments from those of admitted Irish decent suggested they go back home like all other undocumented immigrants and get at the back of the line. "William Gheen is a renowned Civil Rights worker in our state known for his efforts to register and transport minority voters and students." This just doesn't fit my image of a racist for some reason. I couldn't find anything there that said "undocumented cause 80% of accidents." I did see articles posted from what I believe to be reliable sources regarding deaths caused by drunk drivers whom the reporters state are either undocumented or illegal immigrants. "I contacted welfare and they said that is not true only US citizens receive welfare." Actually, only those who can provide SS numbers are entitled to taxpayer assistance. Case workers are NOT allowed to verify any SS number that is given to them even if they suspect the number to be fraudulent or so I'm told by a friend who works in DSS. "Im from NC and I believe in truth and justice. This guy is dishonest." So am I. I've been a taxpaying resident for 30+ years. I, too, believe in truth and justice. Nothing I've read in the past couple of weeks leads me to believe this guy is dishonest. As for the tax thing that keeps getting thrown around, I have no idea about that; but, if reports have been made to property authorities, only time will tell. bob1388, I really can't figure out why you would spend so much time drawing attention to ALIPAC. Unless, of course, it's some kind of reverse psychology or something to get people to that site. Anyway, if that's the case, it worked because I joined this morning. Have a great day, all!
