"I'm not trying to impede anybody's peace," he says. "I hope at some point they'll come over and enjoy themselves." Hmmm, that statement alone shows that the church knows they are impeding someone else's peace. How would they feel if someone built a bar next to them without any zoning or due process? It would be offensive to them, just as they are offending the peace of the rural area surrounding their neighbors. what is wrong with a public ball field owned by parks and recreation??? There must be something like that already in existence and being paid for by tax payers. Take advantage of what is already around instead of angering the community and driving others away from potentially being members of the church.
