Re: “After Two Employees Walked Out, Durham's Guglhupf Attempts to Extricate Itself From HB 2 Backlash

I'm with charlie, duramite, starfuryomega and a few others ... the ongoing bashing of Guglhupf has to stop, editorially and otherwise. Anyone who has worked with Claudia or Guglhupf over the past 18 years knows this is not reflective of the company's business philosophy. And it is only creating hardship for their staff instead of letting them focus on everything they do well.

We all need to be reminded this incident was instigated by two employees (Rob Chamberlain and Jen Myers) who took it upon themselves to put signs on the bathroom doors without any prior consultation with Claudia. They do not own the business, and it was not their place to do so. Claudia first learned of the signs via photos sent to her by email and txt. When she arrived on-site, she was put on the spot on the busiest day of the week with a restaurant and bakery full of customers.

These two employees then walked-out in the middle of their shift which not only impacted customers in the restaurant, but their coworkers who scrambled to maintain a level of customer service. Rob then jumps on social media, painting himself and Jen as heroic and Guglhupf as the bad guy.

I can't think of anything more disrespectful regardless of one's position on HB2. There is a right way and a wrong way to facilitate change; the holier-than-thou attitude of these two employees has been destructive to the business and it's staff. It's one thing to be passionate, another to completely disregard one's place of employment, its owner, customer base and your fellow employees. I find it incredulous that on Rob Chamberlain's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/phonikaa) his supporters are asking if he's getting his job back. Are Rob and Jen the kind of employees you'd want on your team? I sure as hell hope not. I wouldn't hire these two if they paid their own salary, remorse of not.
