VOLUME 11: Cygnus, Ja'maul REdmond, Blanket

When: Sat., March 14, 10 p.m. 2015
Price: $10
Music-worshipping Afrofuturists tout names like Parliament-Funkadelic, Sun Ra, Janelle Monáe and Ras G as leaders. But have they considered what happens in post-Afrofuturism, when those established soul signals have been scrambled, the “African Cyber Initiative” has been disbanded, and there’s nothing left but morsels of Morse code with which a galaxy of Freak-A-Zoids may plot their dance steps? Dallas producer Cygnus seems to have considered all of this. Through his Biosoft Records, he has released his recordings for our pleasure and “personal research” into his “multidimensional supersoul” music projections. He’ll broadcast some of them for this edition of Chapel Hill’s ever-innovative Volume 11 dance party. —Eric Tullis
