Re: “Mind the Food Gap: Who Does Farm-to-Table Serve?

Why are you scrutinizing local growers without any mention of the massive federal subsidies for corn and animal feed, as well as beef and poultry production, which have created the absurdity of the $1 hamburger and $8 bunch of kale in the first place?

Article might have been better titled, "These are the five most boring/useless people on the Internet"

Re: “It Took More Than Biscuits and Donuts to Make Rise the Triangle's Fastest Growing Food Empire

We were initially very supportive of Rise when it opened at Southpoint, but it was disappointing when they just dropped the vegan offerings with no explanation. The vision statement they posted on their original home page said they would "offer vegan and gluten-free options," and they built their business up with the help of gluten freeks and vegans like me - I know because many times I would show up mid-morning and they would already be sold out of the vegan doughnut special. Maybe the plan now is to let each location decide on specials. I don't know because they lost me cold as a customer after about two years of hitting them about once a week.

Re: “Trawling the Triangle for the best vegetarian sushi

Fine, but everyone knows that egg is not vegetarian.

Re: “Tupelo Honey Cafe and P.G. Werth's both make claims to Southern culinary heritage. Our grits-to-biscuits-to-macaroni review

This is a dumb review. Comparing a restaurant to your grandmother's home cooking seems unfair, and frankly I don't care how she slathered you all with lard. Honey Tupelo is alright nouveau southern style food and I appreciate their upgrades on the traditional preparations which are often much healthier. However I do agree that the wait times are prohibitive to an extent approaching the Portlandia brunch scene.
