Re: “For the Last Five Months, Pastor Jose Chicas Has Been Hiding from ICE Inside a Durham Religious Center

Well, it says pastor right there in the first line when describing him, so it seems likely he is a pastor. And something called the "St. John's Missionary Baptist Church" seems very likely to be a church. I hope this helps!!!

Re: “How Much Is a Confederate Monument Worth?

Wow, the people eager to honer those who defended slavery sure get up early. Hey y'all. The statue was a cheap piece of crap erected primarily to demonstrate a continuing commitment to white supremacy. Every person in the crowd that pulled it down is more worthy of honoring than every member of the confederacy.

Re: “Muslim Raleigh City Council Candidate Zainab Baloch Says Defacement of Her Sign Won't Stop Her Campaign

Linzie, a quick correction. In your first sentence you mispelled "love" as "hate" and "racist" as "realist."

Re: “You Can Now Go Drink at RDU on Sunday Mornings

If they're church goers then they won't be effected by alcohol sales before noon on Sundays, because they'll still be in church. The only way this effects church goers is that it limits one of their favorite hobbies; trying to require that others follow the rules the church goer.

Re: “Batalá Durham's Central Park Standoff with Liberty Warehouse Residents Is Gentrification in Motion

If it happens that Batala can no longer use that space at least it will create an opportunity for me to practice my intermittent air horn technique.

Re: “Study: Women in Wake County See Wage Gap Worse Than in Austin or Boston

No John, you are mistaken. Putting a sign up isn't intended to fix things. It's generally intended to signify support or opposition. This can be valuable, but in itself cannot be a solution. Pulling down a racist statue solves the problem of there being a publicly funded statue that supports racism but does not in any way address the gender wage gap. The subjects are not really related except in that people who have a basic respect for humanity resist racism and support gender equality. Hope this helps. (Feel free to ask someone to help you with any words you don't understand)

Re: “The Mayor of New Orleans Explains Why North Carolina’s Monuments to White Supremacy Need to Come Down

Yeah, it wasn't about slavery. It was about States Rights. . It's just a coincidence that the right to own humans was one that all the rebelling states wanted to keep. Wake up sheeple! (It's amazing and disgusting the brainwashing that goes on in the south about the civil war. I was explicitly taught all the myth;, good slave owners, slaves better off before liberation, R. E. Lee an honorable person, etc. All bullshit still being fed to people today.)
