Re: “The truth about the Goathouse Refuge

I am not a disgruntled past volunteer but I have heard plenty of concerns about this refuge over the years from rescue professionals in the area. Have any of the folks who purport to know so much about cat sheltering or rescue read the recommendations from the nationally recognized Univ of Cal Davis College of Veterinary Medicine Koret Shelter Medicine Program?. How about the recommendations from the Association of Shelter Veterinarians or HSUS?
Their info is intended for rescues as well, such appropriate animal to staff/volunteer ratios, proper training of volunteers, how long should sick animals be kept in cages, warehousing cats, etc.
If they had, they would understand that Goathouse routinely bites off more than they can chew and the result is more cats than staff/volunteers can properly care for, too many sick cats, and, what would be described by the above organizations as inhumane conditions for some of their cats. The truth hurts, read up and get educated. Then you can really address the problems...blaming the Indy won't get you there.
