Comedy, Drama

TV's teen detective show Veronica Mars, created by Rob Thomas and starring Kristen Bell, had a film noir look and snarky narration, speaking to both teen outcasts and lovers of classic crime thrillers. A Kickstarter drive landed it on the big screen, and although there is a series recap at the outset, it's certainly more enjoyable if you are up to speed on all the details. The audience verdict? It's too short: They would gladly binge on another 13-hour season right there in the theater. Most characters return, and there are even more broody looks by Veronica's bad boy ex, Logan Echolls, played by Jason Dohring. It's satisfying entertainment for the Marshmallows, but of little interest, perhaps, to anyone else.
