If you’re the gambling type and interested in which acts head to SXSW and leave with significantly more buzz than when they entered, pony up for VÉRITÉ. The New York singer makes magnetic electropop seem effortless, as if she stepped out of bed, rolled into a perfectly produced beat and simply started singing. Her latest single, “Wasteland,” turns dynamic tricks with the kind of house beats that have infiltrated Top 40. Her voice sounds perfectly under-produced, though, like that of a star born this way. Don’t expect her to stop in clubs this size for long, especially in Lorde’s wake. —Grayson Haver Currin
