Re: “Company closings and cutbacks are focusing new attention on sustainability

Small correction: Bare Theatre is expanding on Ionesco's "The Leader," not "The Candidate."

Re: “Burning Coal's Much Ado About Nothing

I saw this production on opening night and very much enjoyed it, more so than any recent Shakespearean production I've seen. However, I must agree with Mr. Woods about the interpretation of Claudio; there wasn't enough strength and maturity to the portrayal, which made Claudio's refusal of Hero fall flat. I saw the show for my Shakespearean English class (I'm a student at UNC) and wrote my essay about the production on how I felt Claudio was missing a more primal, lustful aspect in his love for Hero. As it was, I found the relationship to be too sweet and one-dimensional, at least from the Claudio side. I'm interested in hearing Mr. Woods' take on the possible benefits of including more of the sexual overtones of the production in Hero and Claudio's relationship, which seemed to be the only place that sex was not on mind. That said, I am NOT interested in being smarmily belittled or attacked for my opinions and take on Much Ado About Nothing, as Mr. Woods has done to other well-intentioned posters on this page.
