Unknown Hinson, Susto

When: Fri., May 15, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $20-$25
Danny Baker, who once played guitar in Greensboro’s Brice Street Band, debuted his Unknown character on Charlotte television in 1993. Since then, Hinson’s career highs have included being the voice of Early Cuyler on Adult Swim’s Squidbillies and winning Dale Watson’s Ameripolitan Music Award’s Best Male Outlaw Artist. The self-proclaimed “King of Country and Western Troubadours” is a gun-toting, liquor-loving, guitar-shredding wildman who opens his shows by firing off rounds from his personal sidearm. Looking like Hank Williams drained and turned undead by Dracula, Unknown Hinson plays a unique brand of politically incorrect country. —Grant Britt
