Unexposed: Let Us Taste the Sun

When: Mon., Sept. 28 2015

SHADOWBOX STUDIO—Too bad you weren't in Haverhill, Massachusetts, last weekend. You missed the Haverhill Experimental Film Festival, run by Durham-based experimental documentarians Brendan and Jeremy Smyth, which showed a dazzling array of bleeding-edge projected work for the third straight year. Fortunately, the brothers have curated a mini-festival of selections from Haverhill for a one-night recap at Durham's Shadowbox. Rather than sticking with the winning films, as they did in Unexposed last September, the Smyths chose 11 videos that, together, tease out a subtle narrative thread. The featured filmmakers include Duke MFA|EDA graduate Talena Sanders and Duke visiting artist Shambhavi Kaul, among others from around the country. 8 p.m., free, 900 E. Club Blvd., Durham, www.durhamunexposed.tumblr.com. —Chris Vitiello
