The realm of Christian metalcore is decidedly not my thing: I don't really abide the topic or the scream-sing duality of the proposition, though I suppose the subversion of a systematically dark form in a religious context is interesting enough as an idea. That said, Underoath, one of the form's marquee acts, headlines, but more interesting is one of the bill's other three acts, Times of Grace. The duo adds a bit of alternative rock nuance to their melees, providing comedowns that actually fit. What's more, their story offers an intriguing twist on the usual side-project model: Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz started the band while recovering from emergency back surgery. He recruited Killswitch's former frontman to help him finish the songs, which they recorded as a duo, but they're now touring as a five-piece. Stray From the Path and Letlive open. —Grayson Currin
