Under African Skies

When: Fri., June 1, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: Free

When Paul Simon's Graceland album was released a quarter-century ago, it sparked heated cultural debate about his choice to collaborate with South African musicians. Simon was either criticized for breaking the cultural boycott against the apartheid regime or celebrated for ratcheting up the pressure against it. The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival re-screens director Joe Berlinger's film in which he follows Simon back to South Africa to play with some of the same musicians and to continue the debate. The film kicks off Full Frame's summer series of films on the lawn at the American Tobacco Campus. The free screening begins at 9 p.m. —Chris Vitiello
