UB40, Radio Riddler

When: Mon., Oct. 26, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $46-$131
Formed by two brothers from Birmingham, England, in the late ’70s, UB40 started with a political agenda. With a band name taken from an unemployment form and songs inveighing against colonialism and Margaret Thatcher, the band plotted its own course, including starting a record label when that was a maverick move. A few records later, though, the pop part of UB40’s preferred pop-reggae amalgam came to the fore. Sloughing off the rough edges in favor of easy-going grooves, the 1983 cover-song collection Labour of Love remains the band’s signature LP. Only one brother, Ali Campbell, will be on hand, but the music should go down as easy as red, red wine. —David Klein
