Re: “Blinker, death and redemption

I understand that this is a bit delayed - but yes in 2008 I am just hearing of this. Mr Eichenberger you did a wonderful job of painting a picture of "Blinker" I knew him just as Rob. People go through phases in their lives and to those that know them during those phases they are are remembered as "pictures" so to speak. I first met Rob in early 1990 when he was dating a friend... then a few years later met up with him again at Sadlaks. We started dating and shortly there after became engaged. Altogether we might have been together for a year or so (early 90's a bit foggy). At the time he was a dedicated member of a 12 step community and I fully supported him becoming involved with the 12 step community in Greenville. Through him and his friends I met my best friend (whom told me about the situation after she re-connected with one of our friends). In your article you mention Rob had a darkness that you did not know... this I know of up until our breakup - but this is not the venue I would ever share that in. Your article painted Rob as a generous man and very caring - this he is. I was happy to see that of all the articles none mentioned his family - he does have two wonderful parents and a sweet sister. He once told me of a story his sister told him. "I asked my sister what Robert meant, and she said their parents were in a game show and won him, and that Robert meant we would have rather won the radio". Thank you sir for your words on his behalf.
