Tycho, Made of Oak, Heathered Pearls

When: Tue., Sept. 27, 8 p.m. 2016
Price: $25
Over the last half-decade, Tycho has come into its own as a project, outrunning most accusations of Boards of Canada swaggerjackery that plagued it early on. Yes, bandleader Scott Hansen still reps meditative, slightly eerie analog synths, and the music could comfortably soundtrack one of those slow-pan Netflix nature documentaries you watch zooted at four in the morning. But on 2014’s Awake, Tycho explored elegant, ambitious post-rock of the sort that Tortoise was stirring around in the mid-nineties. Heathered Pearls throws down crisp ambient techno before them, and Made of Oak, aka Nick Sanborn of Sylvan Esso, warms things up first. —David Ford Smith
