Ty Segall, Wand, Flesh Wounds

When: Sun., Sept. 14, 8:30 p.m. 2014
Price: $14-$16
Ty Segall, the ultra-prolific garage-rock wunderkind, has had a slow year. After churning out a divergent and reliably good stream of LPs, singles, splits, EPs and collaborations over the past few years, Segall has released but one record in 2014, last month's Manipulator. Still, it's swollen with 17 tracks that swipe collective cues from a whole record shop's worth of genres—krautrock, grunge, glam, punk and folk among them. Manipulator, like Segall, hardly feels idle. Segall took the time to garnish his surrealist anthems with rich production, showing that he can spin gold from more than raw impulse. Wand and Flesh Wounds open. —Bryan C. Reed
