Two Gallants, Broncho

When: Thu., June 20, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $13-15

When Bay area duo Two Gallants went on hiatus after their self-titled 2007 album, their energetic yet modest take on folk and country music was well-established. Five years and two solo albums (one by each member) later, guitarist-singer Adam Stephens and drummer Tyson Vogel reconvened in 2012 to release The Bloom and the Blight, an album that has no time for modesty. Stephens pumps up the volume and distortion, which might make some think Two Gallants is aping The Black Keys, but underneath the raucous bluster is the lyrical acuity and intelligence that's always been at the heart of the group. Broncho opens. —David Raposa
